1-18-12 - Maps, Stats & Graphs: The NEW Dashboard

We are thrilled to unveil our new dashboard today! After concentrating on building a top notch redirect service, we've shifted our focus in this release to bring our clients better tools and reporting services.

Here's a taste for what the new dashboard can do for you:

1. Not sure which affiliate program to apply to next?
   "Top Countries" and "Top Opportunities" in the Key Stats tab will identify the countries you could be profiting from most.


2. Want to compare yesterday's clicks to today? Last month to this month?
   The "Growth" and "Trends" tab will show you exactly this.


3. Curious how your click rate changes throughout the day?
   The new hourly reports let you track hourly click rates in near real-time.


4. Need some global affiliate eye candy?
   Check out our new interactive heat maps to see the geographic distribution of your clicks.

Along with the new reports we've also improved our existing reports with interactive graphs, sortable raw data and improved zooming on plotted data. Log in today to see it for yourself!

This update also builds a good foundation for some really cool things we plan to do with your affiliate data in the coming months. More to come!

 

12-13-11 - GeoRiot Supports New BR and MX Programs!

As you may have heard two new affiliate programs were added to the iTunes / App Store Affiliate Program today.

The new program in Mexico, managed by LinkShare and the program for Brazil, managed by TradeDoubler, are also both now supported by GeoRiot! You can add your tracking parameters for these two new programs the same as you have for the other existing programs -- via your GeoRiot dashboard.

To sign up for the Mexico program follow these steps:
• Login to LinkShare
• Click on Programs
• Go to the search box in the far right hand side of page
• Search for "iTunes"
• In the results you should see the three different programs that LinkShare supports; Canada, US and now Mexico.
• Click the "Apply" button for the MX program.

It could take a day or two to get approved for the program, but once you do log back into LinkShare and generate a sample link with the Link Maker tool from your new MX iTunes / App Store account and add those parameters to your GeoRiot dashboard. Within 15 minutes our system will be start serving your affiliate tracking parameters to your Mexico based traffic.

To sign up for Brazil you need to follow the steps below. Please note that unlike the other programs in Europe, a single EU based account will not work to earn you commission in Brazil. You will need an additional account, specifically for Brazil.

1. First you need to set up your account for Brazil:
• Login to TradeDoubler.
• Click on "Account"
• Click on "Countries"
• Check the box next to Brazil.

2. Next, you need to create a "Site" for Brazil:
• Navigate back to the main view in TradeDoubler dashboard.
• Click "+Add Site" button on the bottom right hand side of the page
• Add the relevant information but be sure to select "Brazil" from the country drop down and put "(BR)" in the title of your site.
• You will now have to verify your site. There are two options that TradeDoubler allows to do this.

3. After your site has been verified, you will need to apply for the Brazil program
• Back at the main page in the TradeDoubler dashboard click on "Advertisers" then "Search for Affiliate Programs"
• In the search box put "iTunes" and from the website name drop down select your "(BR)" named site. Click search.
• From the results you will see the "iTunes, App Store, Mac App Store and iBookStore Affiliate Program (BR)" listed.
• On the right hand side of the results you have the option to apply. Click on the button, and wait.

While TradeDoubler mentions that you can still use a program while it's under consideration this isn't true (in our preliminary testing) for the Brazil program. It appears that you need to be approved before you can start sending clicks through.

Once you are approved into the Brazil program you will need to navigate through the TradeDoubler dashboard to the Brazil program and create a test link with the Link Maker tool and add it to the GeoRiot dashboard. Again, please note that your TradeDoubler/Brazil "A" and "P" values are very specific and should be the only ones used for the Brazil program.

I'm excited to announce that the GeoRiot service has expanded to Tokyo to provide even faster response times for our clients! GeoRiot now has US, Europe, and Asia/Pacific locations, and we do availability/performance based load balancing of requests to the fastest possible location. At GeoRiot, we are dedicated to continuously improving performance for our clients.

10-17-11 - 5 New Widgets Announced

An additional five widgets were recently announced by iTunes for their affiliate program. These new widgets, plus the original five released in June, are fully supported by GeoRiot. Creating a widget with the Widget Builder, after accessing the tool from inside the GeoRiot dashboard, will ensure that your international traffic will receive the same attention it would get with any GeoRiot link - good user experience and no potential lost commissions.

Widgets and the Widget Builder are not the only iTunes/ App Store affiliate tools that GeoRiot supports. Our clients can also use the Link Maker tool and RSS Feed Generator tools to create GeoRiot enabled links. Simply access these tools from within the GeoRiot dashboard following these steps to create links or feeds that will work world wide.

• 1. Login to the GeoRiot dashboard.
• 2. Click "Account" from the top navigation
• 3. Click "Manage Websites"
• 4. Click "Manage Affiliate Networks" for the property you wish to build a link, widget or feed for.
• 5. Under the "Tools" header click the tool you wish to access for the relevant country. Please note that the country you select will then become the base country for these links.

9-29-11 - 15 New Affiliate Programs Added

GeoRiot currently supports all of the new affiliate programs! With the most recent additions to the iTunes, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store affiliate program, there are now 29 storefronts with affiliate programs in Europe. The following countries now have affiliate programs: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta , Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

 

9-21-11 - Search Links Introduced

We are very excited to announce - GeoRiot users can now build keyword based search links and still leverage all the best match and translation benefits of the GeoRiot service!

Search links are great for anyone who is just getting started with the iTunes Affiliate Program and/or GeoRiot, but also for those who want to move to a simpler solution. Previously customers with search attributes (album, artist, track, ...) had two options of implementing GeoRiot. They could build a GeoRiot link around an iTunes search link, or encode based on an iTunes deep link. While using iTunes search links were previously the easiest of these two methods, a little known fact is that they do not work identically across all devices and even when they do work they often present the user with extraneous search results. Anyone who has been in this business long knows that sending users to the exact item they are looking for without cluttering the results or showing no results, will result in higher sales conversions, so an iTunes search link was not an option for most. Users opting for the deep link, needed to be prepared to refresh their links from time to time, as iTunes changes AdamId's in their store occasionally, breaking any links containing those id's entirely.

The new GeoRiot Search Link format offers the easiest way out there to build a link to a song, album, or artist page in the iTunes music store, leaving all the heavy work up to GeoRiot to ensure that the link works internationally, for all devices, is maintenance free, and still sends the user to the most accurate result possible with the correct affiliate encoding. This is simply the easiest way to capitalize on your international iTunes affiliate commissions, from start to finish!

As of today, anyone with a GeoRiot account can start using GeoRiot Search Links for iTunes music related queries. For those of you who focus on other media types, do not worry, as work is already in progress to expand the new search links to be all inclusive, so stay tuned!

 

9-12-11 - Service Enhancements for Apps

Good news! We have just deployed some major upgrades to our service which further improve our translations for Apps/Games in the iTunes App Store! We know that exact matches have better sales conversions so we've made these changes with that in mind.

If you ever notice any GeoRiot links that resolve to a less than ideal item or search result when there is a match in the target country's storefront, please contact us to let us know. We are always working to improve the quality of our results, maintain the best user experience for your clients, and further increase your affiliate commissions.
