The Amazon brand has also proliferated into a world wide brand that sells almost everything. Amazon was also an early adopter of affiliate marketing and has built out a very solid and robust program for it's "associates" as it refers to it's affiliate partners.
Amazon has nine storefronts across the world in North America, Europe and Asia. Each storefront also has it's own affiliate program.
Both digital rights licensing and prohibitive shipping costs limit each of the Amazon storefronts from catering to more than it's immediate geographical neighbors. This leaves international traffic clicking on a typical Amazon affiliate link stuck in a store where they can do no more then browse.
Similar to the iTunes Affiliate Program, the Amazon Associates programs are each geographically segmented where each program will only commission on sales from it's related storefront. This results in poor conversion rates and lost commissions.
While the reporting for the Amazon Associates program is top notch it is still geographically limited with each program only reporting on sales, conversions and commissions for it's specific storefront. There is no centralized reporting to provide a comprehensive overview of affiliate success.
The GeoRiot Solution for the Amazon Associates Program is coming soon.
