How do we get paid? (The short answer)

A small percent of links you route through GeoRiot will have our affiliate ID added instead of yours. We have an extensive list of rules controlling which clicks we will and won't touch. For example, we will never skim any clicks from your original affiliate program's country. Also, we will never skim more clicks than we have helped you gain. These, and many other, rules were all set up to protect you and ensure that our relationship is mutually beneficial. Please read on for all of the details.

Compensation

From the beginning GeoRiot was designed to be a win-win for you, the brand, the affiliate network and GeoRiot. We started as affiliate publishers and are still very much in touch with how much every click counts towards your bottom line.

You will never pay a dime out of your pocket to use the GeoRiot service. The compensation model is based on encoding a small percent of your clicks with GeoRiot's affiliate parameters. We call this process skimming and to ensure that you maximize your commissions, GeoRiot has a specific set of rules for skimming. The GeoRiot service will:

  • Always skim clicks from your unsupported countries first.
  • Never skim clicks from your base country (the country you started with and that your links are based from).
  • Only actively skim if your account generates more then 100 clicks in the trailing 24 hour period.
  • Never skim more traffic than we have helped you gain, even if that means we skim less then the agreed skim rate.

Most of our clients don't participate in all of the affiliate programs. As a result the majority of their skimmed clicks come from those countries.

The standard skim rate is 15% of your affilitable clicks. All clients receive a 30 day free trial of the service and this can be increased to 60 days if they become active with the service in their first week. Web based clients can also receive a discounted skim rate for placing promotional GeoRiot links on all pages that contain active GeoRiot links.

Because GeoRiot's compensation is 100% based off your success, our goals are directly inline be with yours -- maximize clicks and increase conversions.

Skimming Example #1

To illustrate how skimming works let's use this hypothetical scenario:

A client has been using the GeoRiot service for a few months with his iTunes affiliate links. The client's website now has about 1,000 affiliatable clicks a day. The client started out with an affiliate account in the US with LinkShare, and also now has accounts with TradeDoubler for all of the programs in Europe and with DGM Pro for both Australia and New Zealand. The client was unable to get accounts for the programs in Canada or Japan. (For a complete list of countries supported by the iTunes affiliate program, click here.)

Let's say this client gets the following count of clicks from each region daily:

  • US/LinkShare - 600 clicks
  • Europe/TradeDoubler - 200 clicks
  • Australia & New Zealand / DGM Pro - 80 clicks
  • Canada / LinkShare - 70 clicks
  • Japan / LinkShare Japan - 50 clicks
  • Totalling 1000 affiliatable clicks

Because the client doesn't have accounts for the Canadian and Japanese affiliate programs, GeoRiot will skim those links first. The 120 clicks from Canada and Japan comprise 12% of their affiliatable clicks. So, 15% - 12% leaves 3% of clicks left to be skimmed. The additional 3% (30 clicks) will be randomly skimmed throughout the day from Europe, Australia, and/ or New Zealand, but not from the US. The US clicks are not skimmed because the US is the base country for the client.

Skimming Example #2

The following hypothetical scenario illustrates the GeoRiot skimming policy further:

A client has been accepted to the LinkShare and TradeDoubler iTunes affiliate programs. The client's app has the following average daily clicks:

  • US/ LinkShare - 750
  • Europe/ TradeDoubler - 100
  • Australia & New Zealand/ DGM Pro - 100
  • Canada/ LinkShare - 20
  • Japan/ LinkShare - 30
  • Totalling 1000 affiliatable clicks

Given this break-down of clicks, this client will keep all clicks from US and Europe, where he is enrolled in LinkShare and TradeDoubler. Skimmed clicks will be comprised of the remaining clicks (15%) that the client is currently unable to earn a commission from.

Skimming Example #3

The following hypothetical scenario illustrates the GeoRiot skimming policy further:

A client joins GeoRiot to improve user experience and gain better metrics and tracking for the website. This client's base country is the US, and the client is only in the US/ LinkShare iTunes program. Their average daily break-down of clicks is as follows:

  • US/ LinkShare - 875
  • Europe/ TradeDoubler - 100
  • With another 25 spread between the remaining affiliatable countries
  • Totalling 1000 affiliatable clicks

Given that the client's base country, US, delivers 87.5% of affiliatable clicks, we will not skim the standard 15%. GeoRiot policy states that we will never skim from your base country. Therefor, only 12.5% of this client's clicks will be skimmed. The skimmed clicks will come from affiliatable countries outside the US. US clicks will never be skimmed for a client in this scenario.
