The Service

The GeoRiot solution allows you to create a single link that will work for every users and utilize all of your iTunes affiliate program accounts.

GeoRiot provides a link redirection service that allows for multiple geographically-segmented affiliate programs to be used simultaneously. The service works by sending a click on an affiliate link first to GeoRiot where the service geo-targets where the user is coming from, translates the link to work best for the user's regional storefront, then affiliate encodes the link so you receive commissions on all possible sales.

What GeoRiot Does

For every click the GeoRiot service goes through three steps to ensure that the final URL is best matched for that user and their local storefront. This ensures you are maximizing your commissions and the user doesn't receive an error after clicking on your link.

Geo Target

Geo Targeting is the practice of delivering content that is specific to a user's location. GeoRiot identifies where the user is clicking from in order to determine which storefront is the best match for that user. GeoRiot is able to accurately determine a users location from over 226 countries or regions to ensure the best storefront is matched up.  (See iTunes supported countries)

Translate

The GeoRiot service uses an extensive set of rules and logic to quickly translate the original link's intended destination into a link appropriate for the international user and their relevant storefront. Our algorithm is constantly evolving to provide the fastest and most accurate content matches. Using GeoRiot will improve your overall conversion rate but our best of class translation engine will improve your conversion rate in each program.

Encode

After a new link is translated from the original link in the previous step it is then encoded with the appropriate affiliate parameters to match the standards for the relevant affiliate network. Matching the user's appropriate storefront to the corresponding affiliate network and program ensure that a sale will result in a commission. User level tracking parameters are also exchanged for seamless internal tracking.

What Using GeoRiot Does For You

Rerouting each user to the right item in the correct store drastically improves your affiliate conversion rates. Instead of sending every click to one storefront and hoping they could make a purchase you are sending each user to a storefront where they can make a purchase.

How It Works

The GeoRiot service is a redirect service that is used in addition to each of the affiliate programs. A client uses the GeoRiot service by modifying their original affiliate links on their website, or in their app, to reroute first through the GeoRiot service. GeoRiot ensures, through this redirect, that the link is translated and encoded to best match that user's specific international storefront. Clients will still need to work with the specific affiliate networks to be accepted into the regional programs. Clients will also continue to receive commission checks from each of the specific affiliate networks. GeoRiot simply provides a clean and easy way to use all these programs simultaneously.

1. 1. A user clicks on a GeoRiot enabled link from an iOS app, website or blog.
2. 2. Geotarget - The GeoRiot service determines the user's location and storefront.
3. 3. Translate - the orignal link is translated by the service to match the storefront for the user.
4. 4. Encode - The newly link is encoded with the proper affiliate prameters for the recenlty determined user's storefront.
5. 5. The user is redirected through the new link.
6. 6. If the user is located in the US, Mexico or Canada they are directed through LinkShare. If they are located in one of the supported countries in Europe, or Brazil, they are directed through TradeDoubler. If the user is located in Australia or New Zealand they are redirected through DGM Pro, and finally if the user is in Japan then they are directed through LinkShare Japan.
7. 7. In the process of the affiliate network redirect, the click is recorded and cookies are placed.
8. 8. The user is redirected to the iTunes Preview page where the affiliate cookie is placed. The user is then redirected onto the relevant landing page inside the store.
9. 9. Because the user was directed to the correct storefront with the proper affiliate tracking the user is able to buy the product they were initially interested in purchasing and you will receive any resulting commissions.
10. 10. If the user is determined to be coming from a country where there is no affiliate program they are redirected to the proper iTunes storefront.
11. 11. The user will be able to purchase their intended item but no commission will be generated because there is no supporting affiliate program for that storefront.

If the user comes from a country where there is no store then they are directed to the US program through the LinkShare affiliate redirect.
